As the Educational Support Programs Center (EDEP) operating within TÜRGEV, we came together with young academic candidates from different universities at the fifth International English Student Symposium we organized this year. With the theme of "Current Issues," we provided an opportunity to approach the problems of our time not only from an academic perspective but also from a moral and value-based viewpoint.

Global Level Idea Sharing

On August 2, 2025, at our Üsküdar Higher Education Girls' Dormitory, we held an event where 25 participants, mostly final-year university students, contributed with their English presentations. Our participants not only developed their English academic presentation skills during this process but also experienced interdisciplinary thinking and idea generation on an international scale.

An Interdisciplinary Approach to Current Issues

We evaluated presentation topics ranging from the role of literature in identity construction to policies for equal opportunities in education, from the psychological well-being of youth to social media addiction, and from the relationships between gender and language to theology in the digital age, in light of national and spiritual values. Our youth had the opportunity to rethink the position of spirituality in a digitalizing world while discussing the impact of culture and values on individuals.

Intellectual Solidarity and Value-Based Academic Development

In our symposium, we prioritized not only the development of language skills but also the depth of thought and academic research competence. The presentations of our young academic candidates drew attention with both their academic qualifications and intellectual sensitivities. Throughout the event, our participants from different disciplines experienced a culture of intellectual solidarity and sharing together.

Guiding Feedback from Academics

During the symposium, our students received constructive feedback academically with the contributions of academics and jury members from various universities. This interactive environment not only increased the scientific confidence of the youth but also reinforced the responsibility to act with knowledge and wisdom.

Our Educational Approach that Combines Knowledge with Value

As EDEP, we continue to support the mental and spiritual development of individuals through our projects aimed at high school and university students. With our educational model that blends Islamic sciences with contemporary academic approaches, we contribute to the upbringing of young academics who are connected to their national and spiritual roots while also being able to think universally. We aim to reach more youth with such programs and to promote value-oriented academic production.
