Since 2014, Av. Arzu AKALIN, who has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, has handed over her duties to Fatmanur ALTUN.

AKALIN continues her current role as a General Assembly Member as of 07.02.2018 to pursue her academic studies.

With the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting where the handover ceremony took place, Fatmanur ALTUN began her duties as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Who is Fatmanur ALTUN?

Born in 1979 in Kocaeli, Fatmanur Altun completed her university education in the Sociology Department of Istanbul University Faculty of Letters. She was in the United States between 2002 and 2003 to conduct various research. She completed her master's degree at the Sociology and Anthropology Department of the Institute of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at Marmara University with her thesis titled "The Role of the Greater Middle East Project Discourse in the Construction of Turkish Nationalism After 2000." She completed her doctoral education, which she started in the same department in 2014, in 2018 with her thesis titled "The 'Social Benefit' Approach of Secular and Faith-Based Civil Society Organizations in Turkey: Examples of the Contemporary Life Support Association and Türkiye Gençlik ve Eğitime Hizmet Vakfı."

Since 2000, Altun has worked in the publishing sector as a translator and editor, serving as a section editor at Anlayış Magazine between 2005 and 2010, and as a columnist at the Dünya Bülteni news portal between 2006 and 2011. She served as a member of the main management board of the AK Party Istanbul Provincial Administration between 2009 and 2012. From 2012 to 2016, she was a board member at İBB Kültür A.Ş. and started working at Marmara University in 2015. Currently, Altun works as a faculty member in the Sociology Department of Marmara University and has authored both original and translated works. In addition to seminars and conferences she has given on various platforms, she writes a column for Fikriyat Newspaper and regularly publishes articles in various media.

In addition to her role as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TÜRGEV, Altun also serves as a Board Member of the KADEM Foundation, and she is proficient in advanced English, has a good command of Arabic, and knows Ottoman Turkish. She is married and a mother of four.
