We Conducted Joint Work Against Disinformation in Kosovo with Youth from Three Countries

With the support of the Turkish National Agency, we launched the S.M.A.R.T (Social Media and Responsible Thinking) project, bringing together young people from Turkey, Kosovo, and North Macedonia in Kosovo to undertake an important initiative in the fight against disinformation and in the field of media literacy.

We strengthened the critical thinking skills of young people.

Through the project we conducted under the Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation, we brought together a total of 40 young people in Kosovo between April 13-22, 2026. During the 10-day program, the youth;

received comprehensive training in their fields.

We aimed to enhance the participants' skills in accessing reliable information and producing content by transforming theoretical knowledge into practice through workshops and hands-on training.

We increased intercultural interaction.

During the program, we visited the Yunus Emre Institute Prizren Center and the Turkish Republic Prizren Consulate General with the participants.

Additionally, we strengthened experience sharing among young people and increased international interaction through a cultural trip we organized to Skopje.

We raised awareness with multilingual content.

At the end of the project, participants produced content aimed at combating disinformation by transforming the knowledge and experiences they gained into multilingual social media campaigns.

While aiming to raise awareness in the digital space with these prepared contents, we presented Youthpass certificates to the participants. We planned workshops and training activities for young people to disseminate these gains when they return to their countries.

Our Board Chair Hatice Akıncı Yılmaz emphasized in her evaluation of the project that the impact of the digital world is increasing every day, stating:

"In today's world, where the influence of social media is growing, it is of great importance to be involved in this field consciously and equipped. With this project, we did not only conduct an educational process; we created an international interaction platform for young people. Turkish youth will continue to lead in the digital age."
