The handmade works produced by our students at the Şırnak Silopi Secondary School Girls' Dormitory throughout the year were presented at the Year-End Workshop Exhibition.

The opening of the exhibition held in Silopi was attended by Silopi District Governor Sezer Işıktaş, District National Education Director Bülent Dayanan, Public Education Director Osman Bilen, and the TÜRGEV administrators, as well as the students' families and the people of Silopi.

The exhibition program, which started with a thank-you speech by student Nurhan Karakuş on behalf of all students, continued with the recitation of the Quran and the examination of the works produced by the students through their education and imagination.

Students who met art in the workshops presented hundreds of works they created through various trainings, including painting, stained glass, quilling, mandala, marbling, stone painting in the painting workshop; filigree, wood carving, tent making, model ship production, copper relief in the art workshop; and handicrafts, jewelry design, and making figurines from recycled newspaper in the sewing workshop.

The students, whose excitement was evident in their eyes at the exhibition, were supported by their teachers who have always been by their side on their journey of talent. Calligraphy Teacher Ayfer Açar noted that the students were much more successful than expected in the art of calligraphy, which requires a lot of patience and effort. Art Teacher Mehmet Karakurt emphasized the positive impact of engaging with art on the personal development of students, stating, 'Students have started to meet new arts and gain new perspectives in addition to technical knowledge in classes, and we have witnessed their transformation.'

Silopi Public Education Director Osman Bilen expressed the importance of TÜRGEV in the education process of girls in Silopi at the year-end exhibition with the following words: ‘TÜRGEV has done very beautiful things for Silopi. In addition to meeting the accommodation needs of our 96 girls staying in the dormitory, it mobilized all its resources to prepare them for the future both materially and spiritually. We saw the fruits of the workshop activities at the year-end exhibition. More than a theoretical structure, the workshop activities provided a great foundation for the students' psychomotor skills, hobby and professional development, and gaining a new vision. Today, the exhibition of hundreds of works is the best evidence of TÜRGEV's presence here. TÜRGEV means opportunity for our girls in Silopi, it means the future; it means carrying the culture, profession, and consciousness we inherited from our ancestors into the future.’

‘Our girls feel at home.’

Dormitory Director and Educator Seda Kaya proudly shared the success of her students, stating that both the students and their families are very happy with the professions acquired through the workshops. Kaya, who mentioned that they prepared for the exhibition with great effort and excitement with her students, said, ‘Our girls, who participate in workshop classes with their friends, feel at home and develop not only their manual skills but also their spirits and imaginations by producing new works together.’

The exhibition, open to visitors throughout the day, ended with students taking photos with their works and friends.
