February 17th, World Cat Day, stands out as a meaningful awareness day that strengthens the bond of love between humans and animals, reminding us of the importance of a culture of coexistence. As Türkiye Gençlik ve Eğitime Hizmet Vakfı (TÜRGEV), we act with a sense of responsibility that not only centers on humans but also respects the right to life of every living being.

We see love for animals as an inseparable part of the values we pass on to our youth, and we embrace respect for the right to life as a moral responsibility and a common social duty. This approach is reflected in a concrete stance in the TÜRGEV dormitories and all the activities we carry out.

We Act with Conscience and a Sense of Responsibility

Last March, at our Fatih Mevlanakapı Higher Education Girls' Dormitory, the management and our staff acted without delay for a cat that was found trapped in a wall cavity. After the situation was identified, coordination was established with the relevant institutions, and as a result of the technical interventions carried out, the cat was safely and healthily removed from its location.

This process has been a clear indication of TÜRGEV’s sensitivity to the right to life of all living beings and its compassion-based understanding of responsibility reflected in every area of daily life.

For us, love for animals is not just an awareness area limited to certain days and weeks, but a common value that should be lived within the natural flow of life. We care about our young people living in our dormitories acting with this awareness, and we aim to build a culture of life that strengthens empathy, conscience, and a sense of responsibility.

A Civilization Understanding Centered on Compassion

As TÜRGEV, we believe that a fairer and more livable world comes from a balanced understanding of life that includes humans, animals, and all living beings. On the occasion of World Cat Day, we emphasize the protection, care, and loving coexistence of animals, and we hope for the strengthening of social awareness in this area.

With a civilization understanding centered on compassion, we will continue to support the culture of coexistence and take responsibility with determination.
