As TÜRGEV, we invite you to connect with art by bringing forgotten stories from the dusty pages of the past to the present through the "Traces of the Past" short film competition, which we have implemented with the support of the Provincial Directorate of National Education.
Theme of the Competition
To strengthen historical awareness by bringing forgotten events and heroes back to light through artistic expression and to encourage young people to produce creative works.
Purpose of the Competition
With the "Traces of the Past" competition, we aim for young people to connect with history and culture, rediscovering forgotten heroes, professions, rituals, or events and narrating them in a short film format. This competition supports young people in becoming a part of social memory by blending historical accumulation with artistic expression.
Who Can Participate?
Our competition is aimed at high school students.
Expectations from Participants
• To produce a short film focusing on a forgotten event, hero, profession, or ritual,
• To establish an original connection between the past and the present,
• To present the story with artistic expression and an impactful narrative.
Competition Category
Short Film (3–5 minutes long)
Work Format
• 3 to 5 minute short films presenting a historical event, a cultural element, or a forgotten hero through artistic narration.
• Technical quality, narrative power, and historical authenticity will be prioritized.
Evaluation Criteria
• Historical accuracy and originality,
• Compelling story structure and visual aesthetics,
• Depth of message and impact on the audience,
• Technical proficiency and presentation quality.
Evaluation Process
Projects will be evaluated by a jury consisting of the TÜRGEV Education Commission. The jury will meticulously score all works to determine the results.
Participation Certificate
A participation certificate will be awarded to every student who participates in the competition; the works will be shared on social media platforms and at art events.
Social Responsibility and Sharing
This competition aims not only to develop young people's individual expression skills but also to create social awareness by reminding forgotten stories. Special screenings at the end of the competition will ensure that the works reach a wide audience.
