We held the Carpet Exhibition and Talk Program from Karabakh to Istanbul.

We organized the "Carpet Exhibition and Talk Program from Karabakh to Istanbul" to introduce Azerbaijani civilization and to once again announce the importance of the Karabakh Victory to the world. This meaningful event, organized in collaboration with the Harı Bülbül Azerbaijan Vision Theater Association, took place at Güzel İşler Fabrikası (GİF) Safveti Pasha Campus, located in one of the most touristic locations of Istanbul.

Meaningful Messages from Our Board Chair Hatice Akıncı Yılmaz

In her opening speech at the program, our Board Chair Av. Hatice Akıncı Yılmaz emphasized that Karabakh is not just a piece of land, but also symbolizes the determination, patience, and spirit of unity of a nation.

The Chairperson stated, "The oppression experienced in Khojaly and the years of occupation of Karabakh have deeply hurt us all. However, the support we provided under the motto of one nation, two states for Azerbaijan's just cause strengthened our bonds even more. Today, we have gathered here to commemorate Azerbaijan's rich culture and the Karabakh Victory through art."

A Deep Look into the History and Art of Karabakh

The talks titled "The journey of Karabakh's history, from weaving art to the contemporary art scene" held as part of the event brought together the rich cultural heritage of Karabakh with the participants. Elnara Rasulova, a member of the Azerbaijan Artists Union and a carpet artist, shared the stories of the carpets in the exhibition and the special details of the weaving art. Traditional Fabric Collector Fuad Cebrayılov conducted a presentation that deeply examined the history and philosophy of Azerbaijan's traditional women's clothing, specifically regarding Karabakh. Kemale Cabbarova, the founding president of the Harı Bülbül Azerbaijan Vision Theater Association, also shared topics that shed light on the region's culture, art, and history with the participants.

The exhibition featured many unique works, including ancient Karabakh carpets, special carpets designed for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, ancient kelagayi (headscarves), and kalemkari (hand-painted) covers. These special works, which reflect the traces of Karabakh's independence war through art, brought the rich Azerbaijani culture together with art lovers. Our Foundation President stated, "This exhibition strengthens the unity of two brother countries while bringing Azerbaijan's cultural riches to Istanbul."

Art Strengthening Azerbaijan-Turkey Ties

At the opening program of the exhibition, local delicacies from Azerbaijani and Turkish cuisine were also presented to the participants. At the end of the event, our Board Chair presented plaques to the participants. Carpet artist Elnara Rasulova gifted a Karabakh carpet symbolizing the brotherhood ties of the two countries to our Board Chair.

The Carpet Exhibition from Karabakh to Istanbul will continue to bring art lovers together with Karabakh's rich cultural heritage until January 1. We invite everyone who wishes to visit to our educational campus GİF Safveti Pasha in Sirkeci between 10:00 and 17:00.
