The ceasefire in Gaza does not change the reality on the ground
In the speeches made at the meeting, it was emphasized that despite the declared ceasefire in Gaza, the humanitarian conditions on the ground have not changed. It was highlighted that what is happening is no longer just a political issue, but a test that concerns the conscience of all humanity. It was stressed that lasting peace can only be achieved through the implementation of justice and accountability mechanisms, and it was stated that the reconstruction of Gaza is also a shared responsibility of the international community.
Humanitarian responsibility for Palestine cannot be postponed
Our General Manager, Dr. Selim Gençal, pointed out that the oppression experienced in Gaza continues even after the ceasefire, especially noting that winter conditions have further exacerbated the humanitarian situation in the region. He emphasized that the difficulties in accessing shelter, heating, and basic needs have affected children and families the most, stating that what is happening has now become an urgent humanitarian responsibility.
In his speech, our General Manager stated, "A child's shivering, a family's homelessness, and the fact that all of people's memories are buried under rubble is a painful reality that continues even after the ceasefire. The issue is not just about stopping the violence, but about rebuilding life."
We act with a sense of moral responsibility as TÜRGEV
Gençal expressed that as TÜRGEV, they have kept the Palestinian issue on their agenda for a long time, emphasizing the importance of young people learning about the events from accurate sources and understanding the issue in its humanitarian dimension. In this regard, he highlighted that through the exhibitions "The Language of Witnessing: Gaza and Literacy," "5W1KUDUS," and "Loyalty," they aim to enable young people to witness the events and transform this awareness into a lasting sense of responsibility.
Reminding that our foundation has entered its 30th year, our General Manager stated that they will continue to connect young people with a sense of moral responsibility with this institutional experience.
We will be at the Galata Bridge on January 1, 2026
On the first day of the new year, Thursday morning, January 1, 2026, we invite everyone to gather at the Galata Bridge to collectively express our conscience and solidarity for Gaza. We call on everyone to join this meaningful march to be the voice of the oppressed, to demonstrate our humanitarian responsibility together, and to send a strong message to the world.
